Laura Sukonick, LCSW

Laura (LCSW) approaches treatment with compassion and respect for the coping systems with which people respond to pain. She has worked extensively with people who struggle with anxiety and depression, as well as with eating disorders, mood disorders and addiction. Laura helps people gain insight into their behavioral patterns by learning what uncomfortable experiences they consistently try to repress. She then assists them in understanding the consequences of their avoidance mechanisms. Partnering with her clients, Laura shifts focus from avoidance and distraction tactics to tolerance skills and advocacy work. Laura operates from a family systems perspective that has been cultivated by her vast experience providing family therapy and couples counseling. A self-expression enthusiast, Laura encourages people to communicate with ownership, authenticity and openness to building connections with others. Laura obtained her graduate degree from Bryn Mawr College's School of Social Services with a concentration in clinical work.
